Juliana Lauletta is a Brazilian multimedia artist. Her Light Painting Photographs are created exclusively with long exposures, without Photoshop, using stencils and light props that she builds herself.
The idea is to create the whole image in-camera in one single long exposure. She builds handmade light props using a variety of LED lights and torches, including fairy lights, children's toys, mobile screens, or anything that has lights in it. She also uses modifiers on top of the lights, like fibre-optic cables, plexiglass, recycled plastic items (bottles, spoons, cups, etc), and resin props that she casts. She is always testing different materials to see how they interact with light.
The process involves a lot of trial and error and usually takes many hours to complete. It is also very challenging because it is done in the dark and the results are completely unexpected.
Despite these challenges, she finds immense joy in the unpredictability and uniqueness of each creation. Her dedication to her craft is evident in the meticulous attention to detail and the innovative techniques she employs.
