The BEAT exhibition is a sustainable art project that will happen simultaneously in Brazil and the UK.
All the artworks will be shown in both venues and will be placed in repurposed CD cases, highlighting the indiscriminate use of plastics that are continually discarded by a society perpetually enticed to purchase new products in the name of progress.
The Brazilian side unites 53 artists from 24 countries, each contributing their unique perspectives. The artworks, encapsulated within these transparent relics of the digital age, serve as poignant reminders of the environmental impact of our throwaway culture. They advocate for a more sustainable future, urging society to rethink and reduce its reliance on disposable plastics.
In true Brazilian style, São Paulo offers a vibrant and colourful live performance during the Private View on Wednesday, October 16, titled "What is Disposable?" by Ana Elisa Ferreira. The performance invites us to reconsider the relationship between humans and nature, questioning the path our humanity is taking.
